Terms of service

SpamGuard judges whether submissions to your website are spam and returns a verdict. Your site decides what to do with that verdict.

The WordPress plugin is licensed under the GPL v2 or later. These terms cover the hosted service the plugin talks to, not the plugin code.

No detection service catches everything, and none is free of mistakes. We publish measured figures rather than round numbers, and those figures are measurements on a benchmark, not guarantees about your traffic.

You remain responsible for moderating your own site. SpamGuard sends suspected spam to your spam queue rather than deleting it, precisely so that our mistakes stay recoverable by you.

We aim for continuous availability and do not contractually guarantee it on the free plan.

The plugin is built so that an outage on our side does not break your forms: local rules take over and submissions keep being accepted. Detection is weaker while that lasts.

One API key covers the sites your plan allows. Sharing a key across more sites, or reselling access, is not permitted.

Do not use the service to build a competing detection service, and do not attempt to extract the models through automated probing.

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you paid for.

When a paid plan ends, the account returns to the free plan. Nothing is deleted and the same API key keeps working — only the limits and paid features change.

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

We are not liable for spam that got through, for legitimate submissions that were flagged, or for consequences of how your site acted on a verdict.

These terms are governed by the law of {{JURISDICTION}}, with courts of {{COURTS}} having jurisdiction.
